Water damage inclined this client to re-think her kitchen.
It was time. She wanted to keep costs minimal. Some materials and fixtures were in good condition and utilized to make design decisions. The flooring needed repair, replacement cabinetry was purchased to match the existing and painted SW Zurich White.
The existing backsplash was retained and a Pental Elara countertop was installed.
A Ruvati Modena undermount double sink was added along with a new disposal.
The island was painted SW Anew Gray and kept the existing granite countertop.
The Amara washable runner with cushioned rug pad is from Tumble. Future additions include island lighting and new counter height stools. Cabinet painting by Elements Painting/William Frates.
New counter stools and island lighting are future additions.
The space is truly transformed and quite beautiful.

As you can see from the before photo above the view out of the window was not very inspiring and the afternoon sun made it difficult to sit in the room. Frosted window film was added to temper the sunlight and the alcove above the fireplace was painted SW Brainstorm Bronze, which mimics the dark wood floors. The existing wall color, SW Agreeable Gray is the same family as Brainstorm Bronze so it adds a nice contrast to the fireplace. The gold sconces were added to reflect the warmth of the paint color.

The before photo above does not impress. Uninspiring. The client wished to make more of a statement and use her cherished family pieces ~ the bookcases and buffet. Base cabinetry was designed and made to order, raising the bookcases to the ceiling and the niche painted in SW Tranquil Aqua to emphasize the interior. This is definitely now the focal point of the room. The Buffet was painted in SW Bosc Pear and the walls are SW Shoji White. The TV needs to be hung on the wall, but what a difference just changing color makes!
